The church is located in Augustów at ul. Of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński 2A. The temple is located in the emerging Russian barracks. Construction began around 1896 and was completed in December 1909. It was built as a typical Roman-Byzantine military church. During World War I, the church was devastated when in 1915 it played the role of a warehouse for weapons acquired by the Germans after defeating the Russian army in the Augustów Forest. In 1927, the reclaimed building was renovated and until 1939 it served as a Catholic garrison church of the 1st Krechowiecki Uhlans Regiment. In 1957 it was handed over to the Catholic community, and in 1980 it became the parish church of the newly created parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Augustów. In the 1980s, a concrete tower was added.
