Suwalskie Lakes

19.03.2017 The Suwałki region, known as the Polish cold pole, is an interesting and attractive land for tourists. In its landscape you can find many picturesque lakes, including the deepest Polesie lake Hańcza - scuba divers' favorite place. Here is also the largest of the Polish lakes - Wigry, which is also one of the deepest lakes in Poland. Suwałki region owes its interesting landscape to a huge ice sheet. The memento of him are not only lakes, but also numerous hills and embankments. The beautiful landscape of this region is not so popular among tourists despite its many qualities. You can find peace and quiet here, and there are plenty of attractive areas with beautiful nature. There are no sailors here, while on the Suwałki lakes canoeists and small boats dominate. The most interesting fragments of the Suwałki Region are the Wigry National Park and the Suwałki Landscape Park. There are over 20 larger lakes on its territory. The area of this park is attractive in particular for hiking enthusiasts, for whom a dense network of tourist routes has been designated. Another attraction (for canoeists in particular) is the Czarna Hańcza river and the Wigry lake itself. Czarna Hańcza is the longest river in the Suwałki region and one of the most attractive canoeing routes in Poland. Its lower section forms part of the Augustów Canal system, which is one of the most valuable monuments of water engineering in Europe. Another interesting river that can also be crossed by kayak is Rospuda.
