In the Czarna Hańcza valley

19.03.2017 There will be plenty of attractions in the Czarna Hańcza valley. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in the Nemunas river basin that flows through Poland and Belarus. It begins its run in the East Suwałki Lake District, and ends in Hańcza - the deepest of all Polish lakes. Wigry Lake is another important lake associated with this river. Czarna Hańcza also flows through the extremely attractive Augustów Forest, known for its extensive and extremely valuable forest complexes. Other valuable areas in terms of nature through which Czarna Hańcza flows in Poland are the Wigry National Park and the Suwałki Landscape Park. The biggest attraction related to Czarna Hańcza is one of the most valuable hydrotechnical monuments in Europe - the Augustów Canal. This channel connects Biebrza with Nemunas, and its length is over 100 kilometers (including 80 km in Poland). The canal itself is known for its historic locks, but while hiking through the Czarna Hańcza valley you can see the locks in Tartak and in Kudrynki.
