The Lithuanian Lake District consists of several extremely attractive parts. One of the areas that make up it is the Eastern Suwałki Lake District. This area is distinguished by an interesting and very varied terrain. The banks of frontal moraines and other ice sheet memorabilia, as well as deep gutter lakes are frequent here. It is in the East Suwałki Lake District that the deepest Polish lake is located - Lake Hańcza. Hańcza is known not only for its impressive depth, but also for its extremely clean and transparent water. There are many interesting animals in the waters of this reservoir, including crustaceans, which are already rare in Poland. Hańcza, due to the clear waters and the associated excellent visibility, is one of the most popular lake among divers in Poland. In addition to Lake Hańcza, a big attraction of the East Suwałki Lake District is the Czarna Hańcza river flowing out of this reservoir. It ends in Nemunas, near the border between Belarus and Lithuania. In addition to Hańcza, nature lovers should visit the Wigry National Park, whose most important reservoir is the famous Wigry (the largest reservoir in the entire Lithuanian Lake District). One of the biggest attractions of this area is associated with Wigry - it is the Camaldolese monastery, picturesquely located on the lake, which currently houses the House of Creative Work. It is worth visiting another important place in this lake district, namely Sejny. There is also an interesting monastery that once belonged to the Dominicans.
